Small Batches, Real Tradeoffs
- 4 min read
Small-batch formulation is often romanticized. It sounds artisanal, intimate, careful. In practice, it comes with real constraints.
Limited scalability. Longer lead times. Higher ingredient costs. Less room for error.
We choose small batches not because they are easier, but because they allow us to remain precise. Oils oxidize. Actives degrade. Texture shifts over time. Working in smaller volumes lets us control these variables more closely.
It also forces discipline. You cannot hide inconsistencies in small batches. Every deviation is visible. Every formula must be repeatable, not just successful once.
This approach requires saying no—to unnecessary complexity, to overproduction, to rushing launches. It also means accepting that growth will be intentional, not explosive.
For YANNARA, small-batch production is not a marketing claim. It is an operational choice that aligns with how we think about skin: as something living, variable, and deserving of care.
