Why We Don’t Chase Actives (And Still Get Results)

In modern skincare, actives are often treated as protagonists. The higher the percentage, the louder the claim, the stronger the promise. But more is not always better, and louder is rarely more precise.

At YANNARA, actives are one layer of a larger system—not the entire story.

A formula’s performance depends just as much on its delivery environment as on the active itself. An unstable barrier, an incompatible oil system, or a poorly designed texture can limit even the most well-studied ingredient.

This is why we prioritize formulation architecture first. Barrier support, oil selection, texture calibration, and sensory behavior all determine whether an active can function as intended.

We choose actives deliberately, use them conservatively, and integrate them only when they align with the formula’s purpose. No ingredient exists simply to appear on a label.

Results, in our view, are cumulative. They come from consistency, compatibility, and respect for the skin’s pace. A well-designed formula should support the skin quietly, not force it into response.

Chasing actives often leads to volatility. Engineering systems leads to stability.
