Why YANNARA Began With Oils (And Not Creams)
- 8 min read
There is a common assumption in skincare: that oils are an addition, something applied at the end, something optional. At YANNARA, we began with the opposite premise.
We started with oils because oils are architecture.
Before texture is felt, before actives are delivered, before results are evaluated, the structure of a formula is already defined. Oils determine how a product spreads, how it absorbs, how it settles, and how the skin experiences it over time. They are not decorative. They are foundational.
Creams and emulsions often prioritize immediacy—quick absorption, surface comfort, instant familiarity. Oils require patience, both in formulation and in use. They demand intention. But when engineered properly, they offer a directness and adaptability that few other formats can.
For us, beginning with oils meant beginning with restraint. No emulsifiers to mask imbalance. No water phase to dilute decision-making. Every choice becomes visible. Every oil has a role. Every percentage matters.
This approach also allows the skin to participate more actively in the ritual. Oils respond to warmth, moisture, environment, and dosage. They adapt to real skin, rather than asking skin to adapt to them.
YANNARA oils are not meant to sit on the surface or overwhelm the barrier. They are designed to integrate—to become part of the skin’s rhythm rather than disrupt it.
Starting with oils was not a statement against creams. It was a commitment to clarity. When the structure is honest, everything else follows.
